Building our Bug Hotel

On Friday 27th April our Green Ambassadors made our very own bug hotel. The WWF came to help us build our bug hotel. To make our bug hotel we used:

  • Moss
  • Plastic
  • Wood
  • Straw
  • Bamboo
  • Flower pots
  • Bricks with holes in
  • Drinking straws
  • Bottles
  • Wood chippings
  • Mini beast labels
  • Corrugated cardboard
  • Tape
  • String
  • Logs
  • Wire
  • Pallets
  • Piece of wood for the sign

First the WWF built the structure. Then we each got a plastic bottle and filled it with different materials. We started to fill up the wooden crates with our bottles and put in bricks, cardboard and moss in the empty spaces. We thought of our name for the bug hotel… It is called Sythwood’s bug corner one of the green ambassadors drew a panda on the sign and we all helped to decorate the sign. We found a place to put the sign and we put mini beast labels next to a place where they would make their habitats. We have checked on our hotel every club and it’s survived the bad weather. We have seen some big cobwebs and tiny spiders.
